The museum is home to treasures from before Ocean City’s founding in 1879 to the city’s recent past. From shipwrecks to princesses, religious piety to entrepreneurial spirit, Ocean City’s story is shared with more than 10,000 visitors yearly.

The Ocean City Historical Museum is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation established in April of 1964. It was created by a group of enthusiastic volunteers with the support of the local government. The purpose of the Museum is to preserve the city’s history for future generations for both visitors and residents.

The mission of the Ocean City Historical Museum is to delight, inspire and educate the public about the story of Ocean City, New Jersey and to collect, preserve and promote items relevant to its heritage, traditions and memories.

The Ocean City Free Public Library offers an extensive selection of books and other materials, a robust catalog of digital content, and an impressive slate of programming for all ages. Their catalog includes more than 110,000 books, as well as audiobooks, magazines, newspapers, CDs, and DVDs, ranging from classic novels and beloved children’s books to current bestsellers and young adult series. Whether patrons are looking for the perfect beach read or a movie to salvage a rainy day, the library provides a range of options to enhance any vacation.

The OCFPL maintains a full schedule of events, encompassing everything from children’s puppet shows and young adult book clubs to concerts and workshops for adults. In cases where in-person programming isn’t possible, the library staff adapts quickly and effectively, hosting virtual events designed to educate, entertain, and inspire patrons participating from any location. Visitors to the Ocean City Free Public Library are welcomed to explore their diverse collection and engage in a calendar filled with exciting opportunities, all aimed at enriching their experience and promoting lifelong learning and discovery.

Ocean City is home to numerous fitness facilities and programs including the Aquatic & Fitness Center located in the Community Center. The Aquatic & Fitness Center is a multi-faceted facility that encourages people of all ages and fitness levels to participate in programs that help to promote good health. The center has a 25-meter pool, strength and cardiovascular equipment training space, an exercise studio for aerobics, yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, and martial arts, indoor cycling, personal training, and racquetball court. The Ocean City Aquatic and Fitness Center has something for everyone in the family.
